My favorite attribute is his great memory. He is a great storyteller and he's the guy I want to ride with on a long road trip. He remembers the details. I love hearing his Taiwan mission stories and I'm excited to hear the new Detroit ones soon!
He "Rages" and he is a good reader. I love that he loves the poem, "Do not go Gentle into that Good Night." Dad is always up for an adventure. He want to eat new things, meet new people, and travel to new places. He wants to drink deeply of what life has to offer. He wants to "Rage against the dying of the light."
I LOVE that he is such a good reader. I love that when I imagine him, it is holding a new book. He can cruise through a book like no other. I give credit to my dad for my love of words. He sparked that interest within me, and I'm grateful for that.
Dad's got a lot of good attributes: I like that he's self aware and doesn't put himself or his accomplishments up on a pedestal, but also works hard to improve himself and achieve his goals. It's really nice to have a loving dad who loves mom and loves his kids. There are so many kids out there that don't have that, it's a big blessing to have a loving dad. Dad also smart and has things to say or do that really help when your in a pinch.
That's easy! You are a wonderful family man. You have placed emphasis on the most important things (the Gospel of and your family). Happy 60th Birthday! You have so much to be proud of. I am so thankful for you and your example. (I am so thankful for Andy too and love him to the moon and back a million times.) I am proud to be a Coats!
His big nose, because of his Emily didn't see mine as a turn-off. And also his willingness to share his testimony and emotion with those around him, never too proud to feel the spirit and share it with you.
My favorite attribute is Dave's awesome furniture and playground assembly skills. Kidding (no I'm not!)... I am so grateful for Dave's ambition he exhibits and taught his children, his patience and tolerance of all of us that terrorize his home, :-) his testimony/priesthood respect that has rubbed off on his sons, and mostly his love and acceptance of me and my kiddos, he has always made us feel welcome and special, and loved! -Lindsey
He qualifies every story ahead of time by saying "I've probably told you this before", but goes ahead anyway. The fact that he can tell you the same 40 year old story the same way twice verify the accuracy of the story.
I love all of you, thanks for the comments, it really makes my day. I am anonymous because I couldn't figure how to make a comment otherwise. dad
He's a smart, business-savvy, articulate guy who gets things done. But most importantly, he's a great example of devotion to the Lord and to his family.
If the English language was a horse, Dave would be a Triple Crown winner. Has impeccable command of the English language. So many times I have seen him wait patiently to put his 2 cents in, and when he finally speaks, nothing more needs to be said. He has the ability to think of all the things happening around him, mix them up in his brain, and then paint a perfect picture of whats going on in his mind. I've never seen anything like it before. Dave and Ileen are such good parents. I am always impressed at the Coats kids, they grew up with a lot but you would never be able to tell by their personalities. They are some of the most down to earth people I know. That is a pretty rare!
Grandpa is giving...he gives me money😉🌎from all over the world.

Grandpa is so nice, unless he drops me wrestling. It was so nice for him to come see me and cheer for me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite attribute is his work ethic. He teaches all of us to work hard and save money. Good things happen to those who work hard.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely his testimony and knowledge of the gospel. He is able to express himself so well He will be an awesome missionary companion.
